Curious Baby Seal Joins Navy In Training Exercise And Comically Wins Over The Internet
There’s a reason why seals are considered the dogs of the ocean. With their curious nature, usually friendly demeanor and enthusiasm, it makes sense how someone could point out similarities between the two. Well, this adorable seal pup is no different. He wants nothing more than to hang out with the humans on the beach – but little did he know, the humans on this beach are actually training to be SEALs themselves… Navy SEALs, that is! We’re so glad one of the commanding officers had their phone on-hand and was able to share this sweet footage online. It’s not every day you see a baby seal training with SEALs.
According to the Internation Fund for Animal Welfare, it’s common for baby seals to be separated from their mothers this early on in life. In fact, the site explains they only spend a few days together before setting out in the big, bad world. IFAW says, “Seal pups spend a very short amount of time with their mothers. The hooded seal, for instance, only spends four days nursing from its mother. After that, they are on their own to learn how to hunt and survive. Few seal pups… are maternally dependent.” That was welcome news for the SEALs concerned about the baby’s safety!
The commanding officer recorded as the little one ran straight into the chilly ocean water alongside his human buddies – and then they all set out for a swim! Take a peek at this heartwarming moment between the humans and their animal friend below. It’s clear to see these SEALs have the blessing of nature’s seal.
